Blasphemous Blogging: The Blog of Edwin Kagin

Blasphemy is the crime of making fun of ridiculous beliefs others hold sacred. This blog is about satire, truth, inquiry, and critical thinking. It is about enjoying life before death. It is about how some try to control many through their notions about a make believe supernatural world and imaginary rewards and punishments after death. This blog says that blasphemy is a good thing, a healthy thing, and a good antidote to harmful superstition. This blog is about freedom. Edwin.

Do Angels Have Sex?

The following brilliant analysis of one of the statements in Baubles of Blasphemy was sent to me to refute my error and to set me straight. In this apologetic work, we learn that I was correct but that god either does or does not have sex and that angels either do or do not have sex and that language doesn't mean anything and names don't mean anything and that the sexless author of the refutation has never encountered a television named Robin.

Reader's views are invited.

Subject: Minor edit for you: angels are sexless, not male

I read today your webpage about Santa Claus at

http://www.edwinkagin.com/columns/christmas.htm

Generally I enjoyed and agreed with what you write.

As a minor complaint, however, you assert that "there

are no female angels--check your bible, you can win

bets on this" -- which is true, in the limited sense

that nearly all translations of the Bible refer to all

spiritual beings as if they were males. However, the

mere fact that the authors and translators, working

within the confines of our limited human languages,

chose this form of expression does not mean that any,

much less all, angels *are* males.

Sex designations are used as differentiators for

reproductive function. It is quite impossible for

angels to have a sex unless both (a) at least two

sexes of angels exist and (b) angels reproduce

themselves sexually (instead of, for example, being

created by G-d or using an asexual reproductive

process). One can no more have a "male angel" without

at least the possibility of the existence of a female

angel than one can have a "male television" or a "male

viral particle."

It would, I think, be more accurate to say only that

all spiritual beings mentioned in the Bible are

*described as* being male.

Thanks for your attention.

" Do Angels Have Sex? ", an interesting topic for discussion, that can be answered, by God's Holy Word.

There are several accounts in the Scriptures that address this topic, but Genesis Cp. 6, appears to provide the most clarity.

In Cp. 6 ,the sexual intercourse takes place between " The Son's Of God " and " The Daughters Of Men."

The Sons Of God, referring to angelic beings, that are capable of manifesting themselves in human form. These particular being, are of the 1/3 of spiritual beings that revolted against God, and followed Lucifer.
The daughters of men are simply humanity, that are the product of the seed of mankind.

The following account in Genesis Cp. 6 address this issue.

1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, 2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.

3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.

4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. 5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. 9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect F41 in his generations, and Noah walked with God. 10 And Noah begat three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.

The Flood was the method that God chose to destroy the decadent results, of this union between the Son's Of God and the daughters of men, which produced giants in the land.

Another interesting account of angelic beings manifesting themselves in human form, can be found in Genesis Cp. 19. This particular account involves Lot, his daughters, two angels and the men of the city of Sodom.

Genesis Cp 19

1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; 2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night. 3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.

4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: 5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them. 6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, 7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. 8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof. 9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door. 10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door. 11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

In this particular case, the issue of human sodomy is being addressed by God. The remains of the city of Sodom and Gomorah can be visited to this day, the evidence of their destruction from fire and brimstone lies about both sites, leaving the outline of structures and human form impregnated by brimstone.
